It should be considered a normal thing the moment one notices that his/her puppy tends to chew the clothes. Puppy teething is the stage that comes along with the development of the puppy into a grown dog. At this stage of the development, the baby teeth are being replaced by the permanent teeth that have to be 42 in number; with the top and the lower jaws having 21 teeth each. During this stage, a lot of pain comes in and this is among the many reasons as to why the puppies love chewing on things during teething.
Symptoms that come along with puppy teething
At the start, the milk teeth fall out in order to create space for the permanent teeth. The milk teeth are needle-shaped with sharp ends; the incisors are the first set of teeth to fall out but they are found on the lower jaw but at the front part. The upper incisors are to follow next and finally the bottom and lower premolars. Once all these sets of teeth have fallen out, the canines and molars will set in.
It is good to have the information on when puppy teething sets in in order to be fully aware of the changes in behavior in the puppies.
One common thing that is seen is that the puppies love tussling with the toys or other assets. Blood will be seen oozing from the puppy's gums as it may end up dislodging a tooth that is loose. One may also notice that the puppy whines now and then, that is accompanied with diarrhea. Others are no longer interested in playing and their appetite affected a lot.
Information on the puppy teething tips
Being fully aware of any slight changes in the puppy's behavior is good as this will help one in dealing with the situation with no fuss. Punishment for the puppies once chewing is noted is not the ultimate solution. The best thing to do is to always spare some time for the puppy in order to find the right items to give it to chew on rather than leaving the clothes at its disposal. One has to find items that are a bit hard for the puppy to chew on.
One can try on the rag that has to be rolled into a log and should be damp as well. This will help in soothing the sore gums of the puppy. A knotted rope, animal bones that are large in size, dried pig ears can be used as chew toys for the puppies to solve the problem on puppy teething.
How to deal with puppy teething pain
During puppy teething, a lot of pain can come in and this is the reason as to why most of the time one will hear his/her puppy whine. One can help the puppy in easing the pain through massaging its teeth and gums. One has to let the puppy lie on his/her lap and with the help of the finger, one has to massage the gums and teeth. This should be carried out with the help of the ice water. This activity also helps in the future for the puppy to be used to one's fingers and for easier massaging of the gums.
